We will use the wonderful watercolour techniques eg. mixing colour, glazing, wet on wet etc. Subjects such as flowers and still life but also some landscape, perhaps animal portraiture and any particular topics you would like to cover. You can choose one subject or experiment a little!. The lessons will start with a demonstration and an explanation of the notes, then students will be taken slowly through the techniques allowing plenty of time to progress with an experienced and enthusiastic tutor to guide you.

The aim of this course is to have fun and learn watercolour painting along the way and beginners and students with previous experience are both catered for. Whilst this is primarily a watercolour course, instructions on drawing and pen and ink will also be given as the need arises. Students will be given advice on equipment and on the techniques required enabling them to produced finished pictures at an early stage. Each session is worked around a particular subject with demonstrations of the methods needed. A colour picture with written instructions will be handed out each time so the student can build up a portfolio for future reference. The subject matter for each lesson will largely be guided by the student’s preferences, commensurate with the need to learn all aspects of the techniques required. Watercolour Painting – All levels
This is a relaxed and open minded course, suitable for all levels. The focus of this course is on improving creativity as well as paint handling skills. The student will have the freedom to try out other media alongside watercolour. Each term we will build on the individual learner’s knowledge of water based media and watercolour techniques. The student will gain an understanding of the creative process through a combination of group exercises, individual projects and personal development tutorials. By the end of the course students will have an improved knowledge of watercolour techniques, colour theory and mixing. You will also gain knowledge of painting materials, art appreciation, creativity, composition and sketching skills.
