Course Description: Developing creativity, drawing and painting skills
and encouraging talent in ages 10 to 16 years.
A class designed to appeal to the interest of younger artists, expanding and challenging their drawing and painting skills as well as their outlook and perceptions of what art is. Students will take part in group tuition and discussion as well as working on and building their own unique portfolio of work, using their own ideas.
Projects will include:
Drawing skills and drawing materials. Drawing cartoons, manga and comic strips. Using digital media in art. Graphic design. Illustration. Interpreting cultural inspiration from films, TV, music, and the internet.
Course Description: Through individual instruction learn to draw and paint from close and careful observation of nature, such as winter themes; ice, frost and snow, trees and plants – using pen and ink for creating the patterns of line, shading and tone. In spring, we will focus on spring flowers, blossom and other emerging colours with watercolours, water soluble pencils, coloured inks and pastels.

The course will introduce students to the effects of different media such as paint, pencils, charcoal and pastels. They will also learn about and experiment with colour mixing. Techniques inluding composition and shading will also be covered.
