ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP – ‘DIRECT’ PAINTING
There are two approaches to oil painting – direct and indirect. Indirect painting is a layered approach gradually building up to a final effect. Direct painting is where you paint directly for the final effect, which, needs careful mixing and then bold application! We will do a painting using the direct method and look at examples from the Masters of this technique and there will be demonstrations from the tutor.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Tools and materials needed for the course:
• A3 acrylic paper pad • Brushes • Masking Tape • Non odour or low odour turps like Sanador or Zest • Kitchen roll
• Colours: the minimum needed are: Titanium White, Alizarin Crimson, Prussian Blue or Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Burnt Umber or Van Dyck brown. Other useful colours are: Cadmium Red, Raw Umber, Yellow Ochre, Sap Green
