“When you can Draw you are always an Artist”
Thought to have been said by the Artist Ingres…all you need is something to draw with and something to draw on.

Drawing & Painting
This course is for students who wish to build upon their existing drawing skills. It provides a supportive place in which you can recap the main principles of drawing using pencil and charcoal. Recall and practice traditional drawing techniques, such as: linear drawing, tonal drawing, mark making, composition and perspective. Explore new ways or working including: selective detail, movement and rubbings/textures. There will be reference to other Artists’ work to inspire and encourage ideas.

The course is designed for those who have some previous experience of drawing. It is also suitable for those or returning to art after a break, who would like to refresh their skills.

During the course, the tutor will provide small group demonstrations and individual support to ensure the student can work at their own level and pace.

Suggested Materials:
An A3 pad of good quality drawing paper, for example Daler Rowney. A range of soft and hard pencils: H, HB, B, 2B, 4B. An eraser. A box of charcoal (multi size). A drawing board and masking tape would also be useful.
