This is a 5 week course that will show you how to paint landscapes and buildings with watercolour. Using photographs supplied by the tutor you will be shown techniques such as wet in wet, tinting with flat washes, using masking fluid and white, lifting out and loosening up. Suitable for all abilities.

Wednesday 1 May – Spring flowers in the landscape
Wednesday 8 May – Old farm buildings in the landscape with pen and wash
Wednesday 15 May – Architectural details with Sepia tint pen & wash
Wednesday 22 May – Seascape/beach scene
Wednesday 29 May – A mountain stream

Materials list: Basic set of tools and materials needed for each week:
Surface: 1 x A4 or equivalent pad of ‘Not’surface watercolour paper 140lb/300gsm. ‘Not’ refers to the surface texture of the paper and is also known as CP (cold pressed) or Bockingford
Brushes:1 x size 10 or 12 and 1 x size 4 round watercolour brush
Other Equipment: 1 x water receptacle (jam jar or plastic container) Tissues, 2B pencil, eraser, ruler
Paint:Watercolour paint, either tubes or pans. If bringing tubes then you will need 1 white mixing palette or china plate
Recommended colours: Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Alizarin Crimson

Pens: 1 x black waterproof pigment ink pen size 02, 03 or 04, 1 x brown waterproof pigment ink pen size 02, 03 or 04
