The colours of Autumn and winter with watercolour
This is a 6 week course that will show you how to paint the colours of autumn and winter in landscapes and still life with watercolour. Using photographs supplied by the tutor you will be shown techniques such as wet in wet, dry brushing, colour mixing, pen and wash and using coloured pencil to add detail. Suitable for all abilities.

Winter landscape with a church in pen and wash
Surface: 1 x A4 or equivalent pad of ‘Not’ surface watercolour paper 140lb/300gsm
‘Not’ refers to the surface texture of the paper and is also known as CP (cold pressed) or Bockingford
Brushes: 1 x size 10 or 12 and 1 x size 4 round watercolour brush.
Paint: Watercolour paint, either tubes or pans.
If bringing tubes then you will need 1 white mixing palette or china plate
Recommended colours: Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red
Pens: 1 x black, waterproof sketching pen. I recommend a size 02, 03 or 04 in one of the following makes:
Pilot Dr drawing Pen, Edding Profipen, Mitsibushi Pin Pen, Faber Castell Pitt Pen (size F, S or XS)
A selection of colour pencils (crayons) for the still life in weeks 3 and 4. Either normal crayons or watercolour pencils.
1 x water receptacle (jam jar or plastic container)
Tissues, 2B pencil, eraser, masking tape
ZOOM participants: Please make sure you have everything out and ready to use at the start of each online session.
The reference photo will be emailed to you before each session.
