Watercolour Painting

This is a five week course that will explore spring using watercolour paint. Subjects will include painting trees and landscapes, flowers and flowers in the landscape, buildings in a landscape using pen and wash and mountains in spring. No previous experience necessary as your tutor will take you through each exercise step by step in a relaxed and friendly manner. Suitable for all abilities.

Thursday 2 May – Spring landscape with trees
Thursday 9 May –  Flowers in the landscape
Thursday 16 May – Still life with flowers (fast and lose)
Thursday 23 May – Buildings in a spring landscape with pen & wash
Thursday 30 May – Mountains in a spring landscape

Materials list: Basic set of tools and materials needed for each week:
Surface: 1 x A4 or A3 equivalent pad of ‘Not’ surface watercolour paper 140lb/300gsm ‘Not’ refers to the surface texture of the paper and is also known as CP (cold pressed) or Bockingford
Brushes: 1 x size 10 or 12 and 1 x size 4 round watercolour brush.
Paint: Watercolour paint, either tubes or pans. If bringing tubes then you will need 1 white mixing palette or china plate
Recommended colours: Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Alizarin Crimson
Other: White paint such as Chinese white, gouache or white ink.
1 x water receptacle (jam jar or plastic container), tissues, 2B pencil, eraser.
Pens: 1 x black waterproof pigment ink pen size 02, 03 or 04
