Course description:

“Summer Landscapes with Watercolour” immerses participants in a day-long exploration of capturing the vibrancy and tranquility of summer scenes using watercolour paints. Through expert instruction, attendees will learn techniques to convey the warmth of sunlight, the lushness of foliage, and the serenity of summer vistas. Dive into colour mixing, brushwork, and mixing shadows to create dynamic paintings that evoke the essence of the season. With personalised guidance and hands-on practice, participants will gain confidence and proficiency in harnessing the unique properties of watercolours. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned artist, this workshop promises to inspire and elevate your summer landscape painting skills in just one day. By the end of the day you will have produced a couple of paintings.

Tools and materials:
Surface:1 x A4 or equivalent pad of ‘Not’ surface watercolour paper 140lb/300gsm ‘Not’ refers to the surface texture of the paper and is also known as CP (cold pressed) or Bockingford
Paint: Watercolour paint, either tubes or pans. If bringing tubes then you will need 1 white mixing palette or china plate. Recommended colours: Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue (optional), Cadmium Yellow Pale, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna or Yellow Ochre, Alizarin Crimson.
Brushes: 1 x size 10 or 12 and 1 x size 4 round watercolour brush
Other: 1 x water receptacle (jam jar or plastic container)
Tissues, 2B pencil, eraser.

Bring a packed lunch.
