Drawing & Watercolour Painting

This course is for students who wish to build on their existing experience and skills. It provides a supportive place in which to initially recap on the main principles of water based mixed media painting including composition, line, tone and colour. The course will allow students to follow their own path, however will open the door to a more diverse freer approach to painting, encouraging experimentation and the development of alternative techniques for the application of paint, colour and textures.

The course is designed for those who have some previous experience of painting and drawing but won’t exclude those returning from a break, however long, and those lacking in confidence. The aim is, through joint experimentation and encouragement, for all students to gain the confidence to develop a freedom of expression and technique but most importantly enjoy painting and transmit this energy into their work.

During the term, the tutor will provide small group demonstrations and individual support to ensure all students can work at their own level and pace.
