Susan Cunningham is a professional artist/art tutor, who has worked in adult education for more than 15 years. She has a Masters Degree in Fine Art, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education with experience of drawing, oil painting, acrylics and watercolour.
Her art practice is about the presence or absence of ‘nature’ within the increasing amount of urban environment we inhabit. This involves documenting her experience following the Western tradition of landscape painting from the 18th and 19th century. This can involve drawing and painting in the open air, utilising sketchbooks, creating model landscapes and building artifacts. It is an investigative process and asks questions: what is ‘nature’ and how do artists contribute and shape ideas about ‘nature’?
